Dear Mr. Mower,

This research session began with a search of the Ljusnarsberg birth records for Anna Thomasdotter, daughter of Thomas Andersson. As you'll recall from our previous research session, the death record of an Anna, daughter of Tomes Anders was located in 1689. The birth records confirm that Anna was the daughter of Thomas Andersson of Nybygge and therefore a sister to Karin Thomasdotter.1

The focus of the remaining portion of the research session was the family of Hans Marcusson, father of Susanna Hansdotter. From Susanna's birth record we know that Hans was from Ramsberg. I searched the 1723-1733 Ramsberg household exam for any Hans Marcusson and found just one, the son of Marcus Dyrichsson and Carin Hansdotter of Ramshyttan.2 In fact, for the 1733 portion of this exam, Hans Marcusson and Cathrina (Karin) Thomasdotter were both listed as workers in the household of Johan Nilsson of Kohrberget. No doubt this is how they came to have Susanna in 1734.

Marcus Dyrichsson and Carin Hansdotter married June 10, 1688 in Lindesberg and were the parents of the following children:3

1. Hans born 27 October 1688 and buried 24 March 1689.
2. Anna born 12 June 1690 and buried 14 May 1691.
3. Dyrich Marcusson born 2 June 1692 and died 9 September 1739.
4. Kerstin born 31 December 1694 and died 1760 in Lindesberg.
5. Karin born 1 November 1697. No death record has been found for this child, but she died prior to 1701.
6. Anna born 21 July 1699 and died in 1772.
7. Carin born 17 August 1701 and buried 16 February 1702.
8. Hans born 8 January 1703.
9. Ingeborg born 2 November 1705 and buried 21 December 1705.
10. Anders born 22 December 1706.
11. Marcus born 5 August 1708 and buried 9 August 1713.
12. Pehr born 30 December 1710 and buried 10 February 1711.
13. Maria born 3 April 1712.

Marcus Dyrichsson died 17 January 1732 and his wife Carin Hansdotter died 30 August 1735, both in Ramshyttan. Carin's death and marriage records indicate that she was from Jonshyttan in Lindesberg.

Through tracking the family of Marcus Dyrichsson in the household exams, some preliminary information was gleaned on his parentage.4 Marcus was the son of Dyrich Marcusson of Ramshyttan. Dyrich was married to Kerstin and Anna and had several children, but additional research in the birth, marriage, and death records will be necessary to sort out which children belong to which mother. Dyrich died sometime prior to 1691. Marcus's wife, Carin Hansdotter, was the daughter of Anna Henrichsdotter who resided in their household from about 1688 to the 1705-1710 exam.5

Marcus and Carin's son Dyrich Marcusson married Catharina Jonsdotter in Ramsberg on 6 March 1713.6 The household exams show that Catharina Jonsdotter died in Ramsberg in 1766, but the Ramsberg deaths are missing from 1761 to 1774.7

Kerstin Marcusdotter married Lars Larsson on 25 September 1715 in Ramsberg and soon moved to Lindesberg.8 Lars was buried 14 July 1734.9 Kerstin died in Lindesberg in 1760 according to the exams, but the death records for this parish are missing from 1758 to 1773.10

Anna Marcusdotter married Johan Welamsson on 7 November 1727 in Ramsberg.11 The household exams show that Anna died in 1772 and Johan in 1762, both in Ramsberg.12

I traced a Maria Marcusdotter who married Anders Ersson in Ramsberg in 1733 and moved to Lindesberg, but the research proved that she was the daughter of Marcus Larsson of Ramshyttan rather than Marcus Dyrichsson.13 Likewise, Cherstin Marcusdotter who married Anders Ersson in Ramsberg in 1722 was not the daughter of Marcus Dyrichsson.14

Hans, Maria, and Anders Marcusson have been more difficult to trace. I found a possible match for Anders in the Lindesberg household exam of 1726-1747, but he doesn't appear in earlier or later exams in the same area.15 Maria is listed near Hans in several of the Ramsberg household exams around 1734 and both are shown to have moved to Lindesberg, but a search of the Lindesberg 1726 to 1747 household exam did not find either one.16 I also searched the Lindesberg marriages and deaths from 1729 to 1741 without success. I searched the Ljusnarsberg household exam of 1730 to 1747 (where Susanna was born) but found no record of Hans, Anders, or Maria Marcusson. Moving records for this area do not exist until at least 1750. I searched a few years of what is available, but found no record of these siblings. We may have to search additional household exams, marriages, and deaths in this and surrounding areas.

A brief search was made in the Ljusnarsberg death records for Karin Pettersdotter and Anna Jansdotter, children of Karin Thomasdotter, but no record was found. Future research for these children should include household exams and marriage records.

Thank You,

Susan Glenn, AG
