Jerry:
Thanks for your new e-mail address. I have been corresponding with Pastor Kopania in Frohnhausen and had plans to go to Germany in November, but because the weather is so bad that time of year and the days so short I have decided to wait until early Spring to go to Germany. Pastor Kopania has tried to read the records, but has trouble deciphering anything.
The reason why I have not been to Germany yet, is because I have had company from Germany for 1 month and it has thrown my plans off. Perhaps we should start on the Emig/Emich line so we can make progress on somehting. Hope all is well with you.
Liebe Grusse
Trudy
I wrote Trudy that we do not want to begin the Amick research at this time for several reasons. First not everyone who has donated money is directly related to that line, whereas everyone who HAS donated research money is related to the Brill line. Mary Amick, daughter of John Amick and wife of Henry Mower Sr. was of the Brill line because her mother was a Brill, but John Amick her father was not of the Brill line that we know of, so to research his line would not be using that money for everyone's benefit.
Secondly, we do not know John Amick's father. We do not know his mother. We are not even close to looking for European origins until we find out those things. We don't know where he was born. We think he spoke German, probably was the son or grandson of German immigrants, but more USA research has to be done before we look in Europe for his ancestor's records.
We have several strong indications that we are to do more on the Amick line however. We have had many communications this month on Amick inquiries and received more descendants from internet communicators. Here are some of the queries that we are receiving:

Hi Hal,
Here is an Amick I don't have any notes on - and don't see in the gedcom you provided. I thought I'd pass the query along as you seem to know many Amick researchers and someone might have info. :-)
Rowan
Rowan, these are the notes I have for Conrad. I don't know for a fact that the Conrad who immigrated in 1773 is the Conrad who m: Mary ENGARD.
Also spelled AMICH.
1773, Sept. 18 - EMICH, Johan. Conrad from Rotterdam, indentured to George Delph & his assigns, Frankoney (Frankonia?) Twp., Phila. Co., PA, as a servant for 4 years.
1783 - Conrad and Mary are renting Catharine Ingart's 98 acre estate.
1789 - They receive their 9 3/4 acre share of the estate
1798 - They buy their nephew's 9 /34 acres (nephew = Adam Engart)
1830 - They sell one of their 9 3/4 acres to Levi WENTZ, who sells it to Peter
Engard (see deeds 7:452, 46:437, 46:459 - Montgomery Co., PA).
1800 - PA Federal Census, Montgomery Co. 00101-00010
1 male 16-26 b: 1774-1784
1 male 45 & up b: by 1755
1 fe 26-45 b: 1755-1774
Per Conrad's Will proved 24 June 1835; his bequest restored Old Puff's Church. However, Will abstract typed & e-mailed to me by Nancy Engard indicates "remainder of estate divided among children, equally". Need explanation for this. (7-1993) See following Will abstract:
Conrad Emick, Upper Dublin - Will written 8 Jun1827, proved 24 June 1835,
Book 7, p. 434.
To hired girl, Lany, 2 suits of clothes $50.
To wife, interest of all moneys, and after wife's death to be sold
Remainder of estate divided among children, equally
Exec. Christopher Dresher
Wits: Jacob Redifer & Henry Seltzer. This may be Henry SHEETZ. It
is thought that Jacob Redifer is Mary Engard Emick's nephew.
Thanks so very much for your help.

Did you ever receive the LA Temple Cards that I sent to you, about 3
weeks ago? You never replied that you got them.
Please E-Mail me with the answer. I know you are so busy, but would like to know.
Thanks again for all you do for the Mower generations.

Dear Singley Family,
Thanks for the extracts, looks like the book is pretty big, so no chance to copy it. I would like to take a look at it. Perhaps you could bring it down on a visit to me. That way I can show you what I have in the way of data. I have about 4100+ records on descendants of the AMICK and BRILL families and can give you a GEDCOM if you want. Most of the early generations came from Jerry MOWER several years ago. He may have additional data by now.
My phone is 410-544-1780. If you would like to come down some time, give me a call and I will provide directions.
Jerry, I will forward an earlier email from the Singley family in which they mention a marriage to an AMICK.

Jerry,
This is the first email I got from the Singley family.
Sorry I did not get back to you earlier on the BRILL-LAFOLETTE connection. My daughter-in-law's great-grandmother was to visit her sister this Summer, but didn't. I was hoping for more data from her.
So I got on the SURNAME.QUERY mailing list and entered the below query. Got the response from Singley's right away. Based on the extracts on the other email, the book they have does not help. I am going to try and find a mailing list for Capon Co., WV, and see if a query there will help.

Would like to find parents and grandparents of both Elizabeth and Baxter.
Their daughter was Bessie LAFOLETTE who married Turner ANDERSON. They in turn had daughter Zora Cathleen ANDERSON born 1906 who married Russell LARRICK. Zora's great-granddaughter married my son and we have BRILL and AMICK families distantly in our lines in PA.

PLUS: we have "Capon Valley - It's Pioneer and Their Descendants 1698-1940" given by his Grandmother. It is a book with histories of many, many people. AND we have the BRILL & LA FOLLETTE families: ie Amos T. Brill mar Elizabeth COLE and one of their eight children was named Elizabeth "Gave Up All That Life Held In Store For Her To Care For Her Sister Ida; Lutheran; Democrats"
This is a start! Would you like to explore further? We would be glad to share what we have. When it is not so late and our 2 year old grandson, who is visiting for the weekend, is asleep, we'll look further into "Capon Valley"book. Capon Valley is in West Va.

Jerry,
Your Website is wonderful. I am also a decendent of Anna Marie Brill and John Amick. My research had only taken me back as far as John and Anna Marie, how exciting to see how far your research has gone. Our branch is their son John Amick and Mary Miller. My grandmother often bragged about her great great grandmother (Mary Brill) who road horseback past the age of 100! My mother's family remained in Bedford County until my mother's generation. I now live in Ohio so it was interesting to see that Christopher Brill and other family members migrated to Ohio. My husbands family is from the county below where we live so I have been spending what time I have to work on family history on his family because it is so easy to go to the geneology center there and have a productive trip in limited time- your web site is the spark I needed to spend some time on my family again! Thanks for sharing your research!!

Randy,
Thanks for sending me an email. On the subject of the early MEARKLE family I am referring you to Jerry MOWER, CC: on this email, as he was the person who provided me with that early history several years ago, and he may have uncovered additional data since then.
Are you doing research on your family history?? If so, what genealogy software are you using?? If you want I can send you a GEDCOM (method of importing and exporting genealogy data) on the descendants of Samuel CLARK and of the MEARKLE family as contained in my files.
Back six generations, you are a descendant of Salome MEARKLE, born about 1806, married to John McDANIEL, born about 1804. I have nothing more on Salome or her parents.
I have Mary Ann's line back four generations to William H. MARKLE married to Mary BENNETT. No dates or places for either one and don't know their parents. I have seven children for them, some with name spelled MARKLE, others as MEARKLE. I think if I had his father's name I could link him to the primary MEARKLE line in my files.
I have two sons for your family: Keith and Craig William - are there any others?? Only have middle initial for yourself and your father, may I have the full given names?
Good luck in your endeavors.

Subject: MAURER- Bucks County, PA
Hi!
I was searching the internet for information on the Reimundt family and I came upon your research notes for St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Nockamixon Township, Bucks County. I noticed that the families I was looking for (Schick, Reimund, Wolfinger, Adamy) were sponsors for several of your Maurer baptisms. I haven't done much research as of yet. I am hoping to go to the Bucks County Historical Society in December. I am wondering if you could tell me a little about your Maurer family in Bucks County as they seem to have known the families I am interested in. I would love to know what life was like for these people. Several generations later, the Rymond family I descend from all became boatmen and lock-keepers on the Delaware Canal. Any suggestions as to where I should start? Thank you.
Christine Johnson
I refered her to Trudy Schenk who can not only tell her where to start, but as to where in Europe her family probably came from.
Thanks to all who have helped in this work. Our donations have trailed off dramatically since we have gone onto the internet and since we don't send out a monthly newsletter via snail mail any more, but we are doing fine. Trudy's trip next spring to Germany is already paid for and we have sufficient for our research needs. If we get low, I will let you all know.
I was able via the internet to identify more descendants of Martin Brill on the above mentioned Stiers line. 24 more descendants. It seems that we are still making progress on descendants even if Martin Brill is eluding us to date. I feel we are very close to finding Martin Brill.
Please note that I have a new e-mail address:

Thanks for all who help us.
