OCTOBER 1990

It is incredible to me how this work has just blossomed with interested individuals in the last few months.

Tedi Jeen and I have had several marvelous experiences this last month which I would like to share with you. When Tedi Jeen and I researched the baptismal records of the Lutheran Church in Bucks County, we saw many Maurers who had been christened. Some of the godparents for other christenings were Maurers. When some of OUR Andrew Maurer's children were christened, other Maurers were the godparents. That struck us as important because those individuals were probably relatives to our Andrew.

In regards to the research done this month: I have disproven the theory we thought that the father of John Amick was George Emig and wife Maria Rudisell. If you received a pedigree showing that as a possibility, then you can scratch those names. I found an orphan court records showing that the John Amick, who was a son of George, was between 14-21 years of age in 1802 and was living in York County. Our John Amick was married and living in Bedford County at that time--and had been there since the mid- 1790's, so we can drop that connection. We thought for a while that that might be the Amick connection we needed, but we are never-the-less grateful for this new knowledge which frees us to continue the search for the parents of John Amick. We don't want to follow the wrong line, that's for sure.
