Thanks to all of you who have written this month. I have spent the month working on Sarah Mower's line (daughter of Andrew Mower). She married Samuel Diehl. Samuel and Sarah had 7 children and I have been tracking them through Bedford County. This Diehl family is interesting. The father of Samuel Diehl was also named Samuel. He had 9 children. Those 9 children had 70 children! 63 of those 70 children are nieces and nephews to our Sarah Mower---the other 7 are her children of course. How would you like to have 63 cousins?? What a family reunion!
Enclosed find a report from the genealogist. Notice he has found another sister to Andrew Mower that we did not know about. He also has some good leads as to the father of Michael Maurer. It appears we are making progress. After I received his report I looked through immigration records and found a Balthasar Maurer who immigrated to America in 1749. It very well could be that Michael Maurer came to America before his father and then his father came over. If we can trace down this Balthasar, and he has a son Michael, we might identify our ancestors in Germany. I am feeling more encouraged.
